The sample material heparinised plasma (sodium, lithium or ammonium heparin) is basically the cell free liquid resulting from separation of cellar blood components from heparin anti-coagulation blood.
The inner wall of the tube is sprayed with 12 to 30 international units of lithium heparin, ammonium heparin or sodium heparin. These additives are anticoagulants which activate anti-thrombins, thus blocking the coagulation cascade and producing a whole blood / plasma sample instead of blood cells and serum.
